Questions To Help You Get Past The Surface With Someone
It's so hard when you're stuck on the surface. Let's break through!
On my second date with my husband I asked him when the last time he cried was. It wasn’t exactly random; I was following the 36 Questions That Lead To Love. That is behind a paywall, so if you want, we also have an episode on it here. These questions are layered, and they start off harmless: “What would constitute a ‘perfect’ day for you?” and get a little deeper, “If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven’t you told them yet?”
I standby my choice to whip them out on my second date. It brought us a lot closer, especially the prompt “Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.” I actually got a kiss out of it. Now, I’d love to come up with a set of questions that you can refer back to in the first few dates (let’s say date 2 or 3) to break through the surface a little.
